KWIGATOON · PRIMARY ONE SET

Science Adventures with Kiki & Friends

Observe · Ask · Try · Explain · Care

An interactive Primary One Science and Elementary Technology learning hub built around Rwanda’s six SET units. Instead of copying textbook pages, each topic becomes a KwigaToon story mission, observation activity, mini-lab, quiz, home challenge and AI conversation.

🔬 The KwigaToon Science Learning Model

Science should feel like discovering the world, not memorising a page. Kiki asks a question, the child looks at something real, predicts, tries a safe activity, explains what they noticed, and then uses the idea at home or school.
Learning rhythm: ① NOTICE → ② ASK → ③ PREDICT → ④ TRY/OBSERVE → ⑤ EXPLAIN TO KIKI → ⑥ CHECK → ⑦ CARE FOR OUR WORLD. The core HTML works without video; videos and live AI are enrichment.

UNIT 1

Materials Used at School and at Home

📚 Momo’s Mixed-Up Bag
🎒
🎯 Mission: Identify, name, use and care for materials used at school and at home. Group materials by their use: writing, drawing, reading, telling time, storage, cooking, dining, sleeping and cleaning.
💡 Big science idea: Every material has a job. Good scientists observe an object, name it, tell what it is used for, and care for it.

🎬 Story Mission — Help the Team

🖊️ 📘 ✏️ 🕒 🧹 🍽️
Kiki: Momo mixed school things and home things together!
Timo: I found a pencil. We use it for writing and drawing.
Kwi: I found a broom. We use it for cleaning.
Mama Amina: Can you help us put every item in the right place?

Your turn: Pause after each character. Answer, point, demonstrate or explain before continuing.

🧪 Kiki’s Discovery Lab

🔎 Writing detective
Find one object used for writing. Say its name and show how it is used.
🔎 Home sorter
Choose 4 safe objects at home. Sort them into cooking, cleaning, sleeping or storage.
🔎 Care challenge
Choose one school item. Clean it safely and return it to its proper place.
🛡️ Safety rule: Young learners should do practical activities with a teacher or responsible adult. Do not use electricity, fire, sharp tools, medicine or unknown substances in independent activities.

🎮 Quick Science Challenge

1. What do we use a pen for?
2. Which item tells time?
3. Where should notebooks be kept?
4. Which is used to clean a classroom?

🏡 Science Around Me

Do a 5-object home science hunt. For each object say: “This is a ____. We use it for ____.”

Science notebook: Draw one thing you observed and tell someone what you discovered.

🌍 Extra Learning

Watch only a short relevant section, then return to an observation, discussion or hands-on task.

💧 Water science

A short early-primary SciShow Kids episode about where water can be found. Use it after the child first names local water sources.

Watch Where Can We Find Water?
Video rule: WATCH → PAUSE → ASK → DO. A child should never spend the science lesson only watching. After 1–3 minutes, pause and ask the learner to point, predict, classify, draw or explain.

🧑🏾‍🏫 How This Should Grow on KwigaToon

Make every SET unit a mini science world. The strongest future version would add original Kiki/Timo animated scenes, drag-and-drop sorting, picture-based observation, voice answers, simple camera-based “show Kiki an object” activities, teacher dashboards and small badges for curiosity, careful observation and environmental care—not only correct answers.
Recommended micro-lesson structure: Story problem → Observe → Predict → Safe practical task → Explain to AI Kiki → Quick check → Home/community mission. This matches the learner-centred, real-life direction of SET much better than reproducing textbook pages.
